i have seen several posts and seen several scopes for sale that were "formerly" gloss, now beadblasted.   i have access to a sandblaster and have a good scope, but have a concern that beads or sand will ruin the scope.   several of the guys where i live camo their scopes it is just a matter of taping off the lenses and spraying.   would i be better to blast or spray with a coat of alumihyde or something?  any input?

Id paint it wouldnt risk blasting it depending on what scope it was.  I have a Bushnell and a Simmons I would blast just to see if it effected the scope at all. You could always buy a Leapers or other such scope to test bead blasting effects.

If you're going to try it make sure to use electrical tape. It will stick the best and keep the important parts safe.
