I am in the middle of building a (hopefully) super accurate AR for long range shooting. In my virtual travels (Google), I've read a little about bedding barrels and gas blocks with Loctite. I've not seen any articles detailing, or even remotely explaining the process, only vague references in old forum posts.

So my question is... Does anyone have any info on the process? Does it work or is it an old wives' tale?

You will want to use a mild loc tite like 242.  Something that can be removed.  The idea behind it is by "bedding, locking" your gasblock your making it a part of your barrel, not just some weight hanging on in the middle of the barrel.

I have tried to Free float the gasblock with no success, I loc tited mine and it shrunk groups down considerably.

So what do you do? Do you just squirt some Loctite on, slide the gas block on, line everything up and tighten it?

Then how do you get it off if you need to? Rubber mallett?

Have you heard of people doing the same sort of thing with the barrel in the receiver as well?

What do mean by freefloating the gas block?  Never heard of this.
