| 16" 1:9 barrel with a CMMG conversion kit. What's the best ammo for accuracy? What can I expect for distance? |
|
Could be unique to the gun, but Eley Match ammo (black box) has given me sub 1/2" groups in my scoped savage bolt gun at 50 yards.
Federal Auto Match is pretty good too. CCI green tag groups 3/4". And I tested one other CCI round that I can't think of off the top of my head. |

Crowe...
All this info is from my "expense" 10/22 barrel..( which has given me much joy through the ammo "drought" ) Fed 510, cheap and quite accurate in my 22 rifle Wolf, either one Fed 714, (sold only at "Dicks" sporting goods, (supposedly Fed's GM Match rejects ) CCI , MiniMag ("cheap" ), Standard Velocity The problem I feel with your set-up is... the twist rate may be to fast for the lead bullets to handle. So you should probably buy in small quanities and try 'em first. I'd also try Agulia 60gr SSS... |

crowe938 I have the same st up as you, my $.02;
This is not going to be a tack driver no matter what you shoot through it but it will kill soda cans all day long at 50yrds. Cheap fed 550 bulk from Wal-Mart runs fine through mine. CCI "Standard Velocity" target (not Green Label) will give me the best groups but nothing that will win you a match. The Fed 550 will "sound" very inconsistant but the CCI Standard Velocity is consistant and not too loud. |

I think your set up will not allow you to see any difference between the federal 550 bulk pack and the more expensive ammo. having said that. American Eagle AE22 shoots very well in every rifle I have put it in. That is what I like to stock up on, in addition to the federal bulk. the AE22 is $20 per 400 the fed is $16 per 550, in my hood. Wolf 22 ammo is very high quality, has not relationship to their centerfire ammo. the wolf it like $45 per 500
