I am finally going to change from a basic charging handle to an Ambi one.  What Ambi CH have you found to be the best?  I doubt if there is really much of a difference, just which one works the smoothest or best?

Thanks

I've only used Geissele for an ambi handle and really like it. Great machining and very smooth

The 2 leaders for last few years are the bcm and the raptor and now the geissele.

Personally all my rifles get raptors. Super smooth, no pinch and look and feel great.

BCM Gunfighter. No questions asked.

Edit: BCM if you're ok with bigger handles. Raptor if you want something more slim.

depends on the sights or optic sitting right above it.

if i need a slightly wider (not the same as wide) purchase to get around the back end of a scope, then BCM ambi.  if i want a narrower profile (e.g. red dot, Trijicon MRO, not mounted fully rearward), i like the Troy, but only when they're on sale for about $60 thereabouts.  the normal retail of $90-whatever for the Troy ambi is way too much.  i think the springs on the LWRC ambi are a little stiff.

For Ambi I go Raptor.  For regular CH's BCM Mod4.

I like the style of the BCM but the Raptor is the smoothest of the ones I've tried. I put this video review together if you want to check it out.

Was the best.

I have both OP. Nothing wrong with the Raptor in fact I like the looks of it a tad better. But the Giessele is built better. Not a ton but definitely noticeable.  Definitely.

I have the Raptor and BCM Ambi. Of those 2, no question BCM

BCM. I hate this trend toward ridiculously wide charging handles; I like at least one side of my rifle to not have pointy bumpy parts.

Geissele Super Charging Handles. I won't be changing out the Raptor I have in my .300 BLK SBR but Geissele SCHs have replaced 2 BCM Mod 4s and the build I am working on will get a SCH

Having owned all three and huge fan of them all I vote Geissele, BCM and Raptor....  That being said I have 3 Raptors and 2 BCM's and have sold all my G handles but will buy again when that build progresses............

Wow!  Thanks for the replies.  I truly appreciate the review video also.  I need to do a little more research it seems.

Thanks again,

I've used the BCM, Raptor and recently got a Geissele on my rifles.  I would place in this order:  Geissele, Raptor and BCM.      Any one of these will be superior to a standard USGI charging handle.   I know there are quite a few more ambi charging handles out there now so be sure you do your research OP.

Raptor and PRI Gas Buster./

Anything else is shit, wears out the notch on the upper, sticks out and gets hung up on your gear, or whatever it comes in contact with.

I've used BCM and Raptor and in my book, the Raptor wins hands down. However, I've reciently seen a new handle from Strike Industries that doesn't use a latch on the rear end. It uses a spring mounted on each side and that is what holds it in. Interesting concept. I'd like to try one out, but that is certainly worth looking in to.

I'd like an ambi/enhanced handle, but I can't mentally justify $100 for a metal stick with a latch on it.  I was absolutely floored the first time I went and looked for a 'good' charging handle.

Long time BCM fan / user, but a recent convert to the Raptor.

Raptors can be found on sale in the $6x range. If you're willing to pay a bit over $100, you can call Radian for a semi-custom.

I got their Nickel Boron version with black handles.

Raptor Pros:
- great ambi operation
- doesn't pinch
- doesn't really poke when slung without a vest
- NiB is nice and sleek. Super smooth action.

Cons:
- expensive

I've gone full circle.  Unless you're high-speed or just want a pretty CH they offer no real advantage.  If your rifle runs you only use it once.

Geissele and Armageddon Tactical. Raptors are nice but they don't mitigate suppressor gas blowback at all. I ended up selling mine for that reason.

I use BCM but you can't go wrong with the Raptor or Geisselle.

10 years ago we were adding crappy "tac latches" to our regular handles. How times have changed.

It boils down to this.

Maybe for you.

They are way better than a standard handle that barely sticks out. More surface area to grasp?  Higher quality? Better looking?  No real advantage?!!  I disagree.   But I guess it's a subjective thing.

It just makes zero sense to me from an engineering perspective on why Geissele made the tips so pointy. You can keep the same finger area profile and make the tips more blunt. Raptor looks to still be the best option.

And sooner or later your rifle will NOT run.  If it has not, no matter how well-made, you are not shooting it much.  Ammo varies.  Stuff gets dirty, grimy, muddy, carbon fouled and parts wear.  When you must manually charge, it may need to be from either side.

Raptor.

I spend a hell of a lot more than $80 on a night out or decent meal. $80 is pocket change.
