I am finally going to change from a basic charging handle to an Ambi one. What Ambi CH have you found to be the best? I doubt if there is really much of a difference, just which one works the smoothest or best?
Thanks |

depends on the sights or optic sitting right above it.
if i need a slightly wider (not the same as wide) purchase to get around the back end of a scope, then BCM ambi. if i want a narrower profile (e.g. red dot, Trijicon MRO, not mounted fully rearward), i like the Troy, but only when they're on sale for about $60 thereabouts. the normal retail of $90-whatever for the Troy ambi is way too much. i think the springs on the LWRC ambi are a little stiff. |

I like the style of the BCM but the Raptor is the smoothest of the ones I've tried. I put this video review together if you want to check it out.

| I've used the BCM, Raptor and recently got a Geissele on my rifles. I would place in this order: Geissele, Raptor and BCM. Any one of these will be superior to a standard USGI charging handle. I know there are quite a few more ambi charging handles out there now so be sure you do your research OP. |
| I've used BCM and Raptor and in my book, the Raptor wins hands down. However, I've reciently seen a new handle from Strike Industries that doesn't use a latch on the rear end. It uses a spring mounted on each side and that is what holds it in. Interesting concept. I'd like to try one out, but that is certainly worth looking in to. |

Raptors can be found on sale in the $6x range. If you're willing to pay a bit over $100, you can call Radian for a semi-custom.
I got their Nickel Boron version with black handles. Raptor Pros: - great ambi operation - doesn't pinch - doesn't really poke when slung without a vest - NiB is nice and sleek. Super smooth action. Cons: - expensive Max |

I've gone full circle. Unless you're high-speed or just want a pretty CH they offer no real advantage. If your rifle runs you only use it once. They are way better than a standard handle that barely sticks out. More surface area to grasp? Higher quality? Better looking? No real advantage?!! I disagree. But I guess it's a subjective thing. |
