I'm thinking on putting a free float tube on my 16" Middy.  What are some of the better options out there for this?  I'd like the tube to have some tapped holes for mounting attachments later on (like a nice small bipod),

I really like the look of rails, but I think I'd prefer a tube since it looks much more comfortable to shoot.  I really don't need TONS of mounting area that a rail has anyway.

Here's what I'll be putting it on.

For a tube-style customizable tube, the JP V-tac is probably the best out there.

Or, get a Daniel Defense or Larue rail handguard and put ladders on it.

I didn't pay much attention to the OP. I like the PRI free float tubes also as they can be customized with or without rails.

Thanks guys for all the help.   I really like the design of both the JP/V-Tac  and the Badger Ordinance Stabalizer of these two, what one looks to lock up tighter?

I'm thinking on getting the rifle length JP/V-Tac or B.O. Stabalizer and installing a lopro gas block.  I think I'd like the longer tube length for a longer sight radius and also better mounting of a bipod.

CASV-EL for carbines

I keep saying it over and over and over, I can't understand why it's not the number one selling FF system.

No removal of anything, rock solid, 3 colors to chose from, shrouds the FSB and I'm willing to bet the lightest. For a carbine there isn't anything in the same ball park.

I'm sure both will lock up perfectly tight.  The badger is heavier then a round tube. If a few/several ounces is a concern, you should check the weight specs. But on my DPMS I couldn't tell any difference.  I got mine from NVBGear, he is a board sponsor, www.nvbgear.com

there is a user I think his name is DM1975 that has the badger also, I got it based on his praises of it, and am glad i did.

A nice FF tube made of carbon fiber is the unit made by Hiperform.  Looks like this......

You can drill holes in it wherever you want to mount stuff.

JP Enterprise IMO are the best on the market for realistic use. Sure you could spend more for Rails out your A$$, but how much stuff are you really going to put on the weapon that is really practical.

Good luck on what ever you decide.

I decided to go with the JP V-Tac rifle length.  It had pretty much everything I wanted.  I really liked the way it locked up on the receiver.

Will post a picture when it is installed.  Now I just need to find a front sight since I will be cutting my original down to make a lo pro gas block.

I hate the tubes I have handled. they have no taper like the plastic one you have now.  it feels terrible in my hands.  The JP may be better with those big slots.  But on my 308 AR I took off the plain tube and got the Badger Ordinance Stabilizer.  I love it!
