Using an adjustable led RMR what mount would work best?
Predator looks to protect the RMR the most but might hinder adjusting brightness. The arms offset mount looks to mount it using the smallest footprint and keep it close to the receiver. ADM seems to be the smallest mount in terms of size Any other recommendations? Thanks! |

Best?
This is maybe one of the hardest things to get right and there really isn't a one-size-fits-all best. Some like em high, and some like em low. Some like em way out forward on the forend, some back behind the ejection port. One o'clock or 45 degree? Then there's the matter of clearing whatever primary optic and mount you want to use. There's so many permutations it can make your head spin. What works for twenty other guys may not work for you. In my experience it's raw trial and error. I prefer mine way back behind the ejection port and way high so it's right next to the ocular of my primary optic. Very easy to cant the weapon and pick it up cause it's almost in the same plain as my primary ocular. No searching for the dot, which can be much harder in the dark. I'm in the minority on this though. I tried many mounts to get there. Right now I have a crap Chinese oneoclock offset pict rail (only one I could find to put it right *there* but looking for another) mounted right behind my scope mount on the top rail. Put a Scalarworks riser on that and the RMR on top. Viola! Sticks out like a tumor but it works great for me. Your mileage will almost certainly vary. Good luck. Oh, and if you find a one piece solution, do tell. American defense just came out with a nice looking QD deal in two flavors, 45 or 33 degree cant. Nice. No protective ears though. That's a whole different problem. Precision Reflex also has a one piece (no need for a pict rail adaptor) deal that looks nice if you like it down low. Good luck. |
