I am thinking about upgrading one of my ARs with a new trigger.  The trigger has to be "bulletproof" to the degree you'd recommend using it in a "goes in harm's way" rifle.  I want a 2-stage trigger that breaks crisply.  Not necessarily a "light" trigger.

I was thinking of a RRA NM 2-stage, which is a great trigger with the only complaint being that they sometimes "work" their way into a single stage trigger.  Since that's not a reliability issue, just a "performance" issue, I'm ok with it.

I know the KAC 2-stage trigger is a fantastic one, but it's going to be too expensive.

Any opinions of the McCormick drop-ins, or others?

You want a Geissele

Don't get a McCormick.  Get a RRA that has been enhanced by WOA from ADCO.  Best possible bang for your buck.  Geisseles are nice but totally unnecessary for your desires.

You want it to be bulletproof, but not expensive???

Yes, I do.

The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I'll look into that WOA variation, thanks!

Jewell 2 stage. Had one in the Les Baer and none better. I have one in the Bushy I own now.
I've had Bush'y 2 stage. Not again
I've had Knight wasn't impressed. Too much money for what you get.
I've had McCormack drop in. Not again.

The new Jewell trigger 2 stage is tougher now then before and it was good then.

I have older and newer Jewells, and would never recommend them for a combat rifle.  Any trigger with that type of adjustment and that number of small parts is not a good choice IMO.

The LMT/Armalite 2 stage would also be a good trigger.

When did the Jewel triggers change?
Mine is several years old so I don't know which one I have.
Even with all the adjustments, once I set it up, it's has run perfectly.
No reliability problems at all.

LMT is pretty good for the money. The Geissele is the best I have tried so far. It is pricey but worth it. You can also swap out the different springs on it to get exactly the trigger pull you want if the adjustment screws won't do it.
LMT and the Armalite trigger are about the same in feel and operation. The RRA is ok until it wears and needs some work to get back the second stage. The one on I put in my AR10 went to a single stage in less than a 1000 rds. After seeing the problem and fixing it it works ok but there is no telling if it will happen again.
The LMT I have hasn't had any problems but a Armalite did have a chunk of the disconector break off. That turned it into an interesting burst trigger. While I thought it was kinda cool the range officer frowned apon it.

They ought to be, LMT makes both of them...

My RRA did 3500 rounds in my RRA NM rifle, then has done 500 more in my LMT carbine.  Still shooting as sweet as day one.  Sweeter, in fact, since I sent it off to White Oak Precision for a tune up when it was my match trigger.

what's involved in "sending off" an RRA for the WOA enhancement?

BTW my RRA two stage has run at least 3k rounds no prob, feels the same as day one.  How does it "wear" down to a single stage?

Take it out of the rifle, put in envelope, send with money to White Oak Precision with a note explaining what you want.

I suggest a call first to John.

Just wanted to add that if you're ever buying a new RRA trigger, you can buy ones pre-done from ADCO.

Anyone have pictures of what Adco or WOA are doing to the RRA trigger to make it better?

On mine either part of the disconnecter or the back half the the hammer wore which resulted in the hammer not pushing against the disconnecter which is what gives the second stage. I had to remove material from the stop and the tail of the disconnecter to allow it to move forward enough to restore the second stage.

Some people have never had the RRA trigger fail while others such as myself have had issues with it. I still have the trigger and it works correctly now but it is in an AR15 that I don't use often but have over 1500 additonal rounds with the trigger.

Does WOA use a different spring?  I think the ad on ADCO said they do.

Here's the one I was talking about.  The "tuned" WOA RRA trigger.  Looks like they do replace the springs.
