I don't have any knowledge of these. Does anyone have a preferred brand or model or flash suppressor? Who’s sitting in the number one spot? Noveske? Thanks again, guys. |
|
I hear it. Does anyone know anything about the Noveske KX3? They look excellent and I saw a couple test videos of them, very appealing. I'd like some firsthand knowledge. If anyone does know anything about the KX3, would this fit on my M&P 15 without any changes to the current muzzle? http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=kx3556p&cat=11&page=1&search=&since=&status= |

The KX3 is only useful on short barrels, and a suppressor is a better choice anyway. On unsuppressed title 1 weapons (16+ barrels) I like A2 flash suppressors. On shorter barrels I like Phantoms, with closed bottoms to keep the dust down. It's a moot point as I bought a suppressor. |

Quoted: If anyone does know anything about the KX3, would this fit on my M&P 15 without any changes to the current muzzle? Im pretty sure they are reserved for use on a SBR, there are lots of guys here that could explain why if they see your question, Im just going of off what i have heard before another one that is a little newer is the one from Primary Weapons, The FSC556, it more of a combo flash hider / compensator |
|
I've shot more than a dozen different flash suppressors and muzzle brakes at night in the past 30 years out of AR15s, AR10s, M1As, FALs, AUGs, HKs, etc. The best suppressor by far is the Vortex. The one with the slightly twisted prongs. Virtually zero flash at night. EDIT: the close second was the original flash hider on the Steyr AUG. I also had an open-ended flash suppressor on an M1A para rifle (looked like the standard flash hider, cut of about halfway up the end) that worked nearly as well. This is a good tip. Most face-to-face firearms conflicts occur at night. Everyone should do some night shooting once a year or so to familiarize themselves with the challenges and special solutions needed for night shooting. |
Yes it will fit - if you don't mind a half pound of weight on the end of your barrel. THe KX3s are optimal for short barrels, they aren't much use on a longer barrel, and their flash supresson is less than a Phantom. IMHO for best overall flash supresson the Vortex is king, but DevL has indicated there is a new unit that is even better and it's designed to mount a particular supressor. |
|
IMHO -- A2--super cheap -- good Phantom -- excellent -- mid-priced (a little long) Vortex -- Superb -- On the pricy side -- (barely longer than A2) Noveske -- GREAT BUT REALLY FOR SBR (expensive & long) VLTOR??????????????????????? Posted earleir this year to see if anyone had experience w/ them? No one really answered. Still would like to know. |
This is supposed to be "the" one. I have Vortex on all mine. It's a pretty substantial gain over the Phantom in darkness. The one in the pictute above is the AAC Blackout, which a few members like DevL run and say is better than the Vortex. I haven't used it, but I trust DevL. Previous thread regarding efficiency |
| I have the Vortex it came on my 18" Noveske Vltor upper.I tested it for reliabilty the other day and had someone record it.No flash at all.If your going with 14.5 or longer stick with the Vortex. If your going with SBR then I suggest the Flamming Pig from Noveske. |

OK. So then from everything said up to this point, we can make the following list (the first on the list being the most effective flash suppressors): 1. AAC Blackout 2. Vortex G6A2 2. Phantom 3. everything else... HOWEVER, where does the Primary Weapons FSC556 fit into play? No one seems to have added or discussed this option, and I'd love to know where it ranks amongst those listed above. Does anyone know? |

I have seen a night time test with pictures on 6 flashiders somewhere on this site (it so hard to find a specific thread here). Anyway, here's the breakdown: AR 11.5" bbl, firing Federal M193 ammo: #1 - Vortex- no flash or flame #2 - Phantom (all types)- no flash, slight flame #3 - Vortex (short) - no flash, some flame #4 - Vortec (knockoff of vortex) - no flash, some flame #5 - XM177 CAR (4.5" FH on a 11.5" bbl) - flash w/flame about a foot #6 - GI birdcage- large bright flach and flame AR 14.5" bbl, Federal M193 ammo: All flash hiders in test worked with no flash and very little or no flame. XM177 flash hider not tested on longer barrels. |
First time with the new search feature? Look Here ETA: HA! Page two... |
Might that be the B.E. Meyers/Surefire? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI2RFgkVwrg |
The Surefire/BE Meyers flash hiders are not for sale as far as I know, I tried to order one from SF direct and they told me to wait until July. |
|
This is from a 16". I hope this helps. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg61/m4a3master/Problems%20and%20Examples/16-inch-XM193ed.jpg [email protected] |
AAC was also looking to use the BE Meyers flash hider untill they determined the Balckout had less flash than the BE Meyers by 10% (an almost undetectable amount), while being shorter and stiffer. BE Meyers then sued AAC for patent infringement but later dropped the suit. |
|
Someone check out this link. It contains the FSC556 "Flash Suppressing Compensator." Check out the video at the bottom, a great night demo showing very little flash from the FSC556, all while maintaining the desired compensation reduction it's known to have. Anyone have any opinions or experience with the FSC556 Flash Suppressing Compensator? http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=821 |
Cool I went on their sight and it was under construction so not much info. What do they get for one? |
|
If you want a Blackout, you might want to buy it now. AAC is presently being sued by BE Meyers for patent infringement. I haven't read the complaint or the claims, but this could put an end to the Blackout line. ETA: I'm behind the times. Lawsuit was dropped last month. |
Dunno I am getting mine because a bad round killed my can and mount and AAC is giving me a new rebuilt can and new mount to replace the old one. They told me SCARmor is being applied to cans over the next ten days and 8 days later the Blackout mounts will be done. No idea on price or the timeline of the non silencer QD versions of the Blackout. I also wanted to make it clear that I am not the one who took the flash pics posted above. Those were the test pics AAC did.
FYI they were suing because the Blackout has a lightening groove on the outside of the flash hider and BE Meyters claimed only they could have a groove machined on the outside of a tine to reduce weight... silly isnt it? |
