I'm running a weaver 1-3x24mm scope (love it) and a burris pepr mount. The mount is solid, but i would like the option to take it off, if for some reason the scope broke or had malfunction.
Should i just pay up for the Larue spr, or is there a good cheaper version out there? I really dont want to spend over $200...and i would like to hold zero aswell. Is Larue my only viable option??? What about ADM recon mounts, anyone use those? |
| Well, another option, if you dont mind the added height, is to use one of these from Larue and maybe use rings instead of the PEPR. That would give you QD and RTZ without spending $200+ for the SPR. That being said, the SPR is the way to go. |

I have a RRA mount on my 1-4 Leupold, no zero shift in 2,000 rounds and if I ever want to remove it all that is needed is a quarter or strong thumbs. It is not a rtz type scope mount. If your only going to remove the scope if it breaks, why pay for the rtz option?

I think i'll opt for the ADM recon mount.
I want the quick detach option because i also want to be able to go back and forth between irons and scope at the range. When hunting i'll always go scope. Plus, i have a new Vortex scope that could go in the burris pepr mount....on maybe a 6.8spc or SPR 556 upper... Now what to buy first, ADM mount or Raven holster...i have a problem... |
| I got the Warne QD (xtra high 203L) to hold my redfield 2-7x33. Steel; screw lever...like half a wing nut, for lack of a better description. After you tighten it down, the lever can be pulled out and indexed however you want. I gave $80 for them and they do return to zero. Maybe another benjamin will buy better quality, but these are solid and great for the price. My Troy rear sight tucks right underneath. |
| I have the same setup (Weaver1-3 in Burris PEPR). I have kicked myself a few times for not going ahead and buying the Larue mount for the scope. At the time paying more for a mount than the scope seemed crazy, but the little scope turned out to be better than I expected. Someday I will probably switch to a quick detach mount, it just gives you more options. My personal experience with Larue products has been very positive and the price difference isn't that great when you get into the higher end mounts. |
