I have everything I need to barrel an AR except receiver blocks. I know the military uses barrel blocks - I really don't care as long as I don't damage the upper receiver. I will only be doing 2 or 3 weapons, but will want to do this soon, and don't want to wait months or even weeks for a set of blocks as I am trying to get a NY compliant carbine together in the next 3 weeks for a trip home

questions:

1. Who makes the 'best' blocks/receiver wrench, whatever you want to call them.

2. Lead time? Links?

3. What do you use, why? I personally don't have a problem with marks under the HGs so maybe barrel blocks are the best way to go. I want to hear what you guys are using and why, and where to get some quickly. Thanks!

ETA: FWIW, I'm into mostly retro stuff, so will be working primarily with A1 fixed handle receivers - the first one I will be doing is a C7 upper, so I want something that fits whatever I choose to work with with no issues and no scarring.

Get the DPMS Panther block and Smith Enterprise barrel nut wrench. Both could be had from Brownells.

I already have a USGI barrel wrench - one of the originals with three-prong FH wrench - it's brand new, and if I can't barrel 3 guns with it, then I shouldn't be doing it. Do you think DPMS will be quick to ship?

That USGI wrench will work fine. The block should ship quick, I got a few of them pretty quick.
