So I just received my LT Stealth Upper, and I don't want to couple this beauty with a sh***y lower.

I want the best COMPLETE lower. I'm still a novice.

Any advice appreciated.

Feel free to contact me if you have something useful to say.

Some lower are prettier than other but will not perform better than others.

I would get a Tactical Innovation Billet lower for it.

Pretty much says it all. As long as it is a forged, quality machined lower it will be just fine. Most are anymore.

why not get a Stealth lower?

Yeah. I think I've heard LaRue keeps a few lowers on hand so that people who buy stealth uppers can complete the package.

Yes, order a stealth lower; you will have it in 3 months or so.  Gives you time to get your LPK

I bought a Stealth upper and lower and never looked back. The lower is worth every penny.

As long as it's not Hesse, Vulcan, or Blackthorne it should be fine.

Just get anything, stag, rra, bushmaster, lmt... if you have money, i think the pof billets look fking sweet, but they are also 100% more, or more than that, either way, they are pricey.

Dude, I was a novice until a month ago.  Now I have two complete lower builds to my name.

Buy any stock lower (I really like the Roggio lowers, reasonably priced and good quality).  It is a lower for crying out loud, if the mags fit and the LPK parts fit, and the mags drop free...comeon.

Buy a stock of your choice.....IMHO, a UTG six position collapsible stock is sufficient.

Buy a lower parts kit of your choice.....I like the doublestar kit.

Use this link here to build it.  http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/  .  The only special tool you will need is a castle nut wrench which is $5.  For the love of all that is good and holy, a monkey could use this guide and figure it out.  It is really much more simple than you think.

I built mine in 20 minutes start to finish and that included a 5 minute parts search and recovery mission when I did a dumb thing.  The only tools were a pair of vice grips, electrical tape, and the castle nut wrench.

Believe me, why pay the money for all of this overblown, overpriced, overhyped LaRude stuff?  I would rather spend my money on the upper and bolt/carrier group than to waste it on a billet lower or some of this crazy priced equipment.

JMHO.

ETA- Plus you can always backorder a LaRue.  When it shows up, gut your complete lower of all its parts for the LaRue.  Then you have 1 complete LaRue and a lower you can either sell or build into a backup gun.

Get the LaRue stealth lower, you'll be happy you did.

I put a LaRue upper on a Noveske N4, and although nice, I wish I would have gotten a LaRue lower.

Please do not put UTG on a LaRue.

Like others have said, pretty much any lower will work just fine.  For myself, I'd try to get a LaRue lower, just so things match.  If I couldn't get that, I'd go with Tactical Innovations.

I noticed the Larue website, but it doesnt appear that the lower is complete. I'm hoping to just get a complete lower, attach the pins, and I'm off. I was looking at the LMT Defender. I'm with you guys, I would want to keep it all Larue. Every since I started using their products I knew I wanted a Stealth upper. I sold my other Bushmaster build to finance it all. Larue doesnt make complete uppers do they? What other parts would I need to make it a complete Larue Lower?

The slr 15 is a nice, well designed, lower.

I was in the same boat as you - 18" Larue Stealth upper on the way and wanted a good Lower to match up with it.  Liked my LMT Defender so much that I got an LMT complete lower with an LMT two-stage match trigger and a SOPMOD stock.  Other than a Larue Lower, I think the LMT lower is the next natural quality lower to get for this fine upper.

putting a lower together is easier than putting together plastic toy models. accept for the pain in the ass detent if you do not have the tool.
If you want the lower but its not complete, just complete it. It is better that way anyhow, you can choose your components.

I like the billet lowers with the trigger guard monolithic to the rest of the lower and oversized for gloves

Since you bought the upper already definitaly get a LaRue lower. People that bought an upper from them are the only ones allowed to order their lowers.

yup, those will out perform every other brand. They are 'the weapons of the special forces.'

For a complete lower, I'd go for an LMT in any trigger flavor you prefer.

I know its vain, but if I'm building an 'ultimate' AR, I'd get a good billet lower just for the look of it.  What's an extra $150-$200 if you buy all top shelf parts for the rest of it...  And I'm typically a minimalist.  I'm probably going to build an SBR next and I'm gonna make it a 'cool' lower.

I have the POF 416 mated with my LaRue Stealth.  Very solid lower and it matches the LaRue billet upper nicely.

My Stealth upper will be sitting on here until the proper Stealth Lower shows up.

Trust me, putting a lower together is EASY.  I put mine together without any gunsmithing skills or tools.  Just the knowledge on this sight is all you need.

You clearly don't know WTF your talking about. You wanted to troll this thread to bash LaRue. If you don't have anything helpful to post go STFU.

Anyway, the SunDevil lowers are nice as well. The SLR15, or POF would be two more great options. I think the LaRue lower would be worth waiting on myself. A complete LaRue weapon system is flat out awesome.

Get a Noveske, they're high quality and best of all, they're in stock right now at Rainier Arms.

Thanks for all the help and insight. Looks like I'm going with the Larue lower. Once I get everything, I'll start looking for a parts kit, and decide which stock I want. I'm sure it'll be Magpul though...

A Larue upper and Noveske lower. Maybe I should ask Mark L. what he thinks about that...

A "Better" AR lower in my mind has ambi bolt and mag releases...it wouldn't be that hard to incorporate. But no one does except Magpul and Knights.

They're all pretty much the same.  You might want to invest in a 2-stage trigger for accuracy.
