Hello All, I just got my first AR. It is a 20" DPMS NM with RRA 2 stage trigger and fully floated Bull Barrel. I put a 3X9 scope on it that I had lying around. So the last thing I want (for now) is a bipod. What is the best length for general target use? Harris makes 6-9, 9-13, and 13-23.

Here is my AR. :)

Hi and welcome. It kind of depends on what the primary use of the rifle will be. If its for bench rest target shooting. 6-9in. will be good. Varmet hunting something higher might be in order. I personaly like 6-9in. Bipoids. For most applications. If they are shooting back. You want to be as close to mother earth as you can be! (Not an earth day thing)

I got a 6-9 also. Still short enough to menuver but long enough that its comfy. Depends how you shoot though. From a bench only get the shortest. Best of everything is a 6-9. Always hunting and sit and shoot go longer.

But a 6-9 is the best of both worlds

I concur.  A 6-9 has worked well for me from the bench, and it's plenty high for prone shooting (I supposes one's build/girth might affect this somewhat).

+1 6-9 for bench and prone.
