Do the swivel stub bipods work well or should I add a 4 rail gas block?  Any suggestions on which one to buy?

I've got a Harris on my AR-10, and it works good. I'm using the Harris BRM-S.

Don't put it on a gas block as that will affect accuracy by putting tension on the barrel.
Put it on a free float rail if you are serious enough to need a bipod to aid in accuracy.

swivel stud works great, but comes loose under rapid fire unless you crank it tight with an allen wrench.

i'm using a Harris 6-9 Benchrest with swivel & leg notches

it's mounted to a standard sling swivel stud on my float tube.

the best bipod you can get is made by Atlas.  Harris bipods are also top quality (and much less expensive).  the $40 walmart bipods suck in my opinion, but i know people who can't tell the difference between them and my Harris.

If you get the stud that is meant for the AR-15 handguards, then yes it works quite well.

I have had the #5 Adapter on my SP1 for about 16 years now.  I have never had it come loose.
