I am looking at the Harris bipod in 9-13 and 6-9 with the Larue mount.  I want to be able to clear a 30 round mag.  What size do you usually run?  This will be for bench and level ground shooting with my 18".  I was reading and it looks like the 9-13 is more of what I am looking for but I don't want it to be too tall.

For me, shooting prone or off a bench, the 6-9 is fine but I do use it extended all the way.  I have the 6-9 on three different ARs and I like it.

I can't imagine a situation where I would use the 6-9 with it not fully extended and for this reason I plan on my next one beng a 9-13.

I'd go with the 9-13". It's never too long when set on 9, so I don't know why anyone would prefer a shorter one.

This. Its used for both prone and bench shooting. 9" is perfect for my skinny self in prone.

I have Harris 6-9" bipods on my bolt gun and varmint AR.  I shoot off the bench and the ground.  I've never extended either bipod to it's limit.  I've never used 30 round mags in the Varmint either, so I can't say if a taller rest is required for such duty.
