I have 10 Blackdog Machine Steel feedlips 25 rnd magazines. They are all having the same issue. When only loaded 10-15 rounds, they load great in my dedicated .22LR AR. When I exceed that number, the nose of the .22LR tips downward. Which causes FTF because the rounds nose dive into the feedramp. I contacted BDM about the issue, they sent me new feedlips. I still have the same issue. I replaced all of them with the plastic feedlips. Still have the same issue.
I am using CCI Minimags. What could be potential causes of the .22 to dip its nose downward when loaded to full capacity? Weak spring? Follower does not have enough anterior pressure/material to push the nose upwards (I have the 2nd Gen followers already)? |

? Try tamping the mags on the bench after they are loaded to seat all the rounds against the back of the mag. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Dave Tried that with no success. I tapped it a bit harder, then the .22 started to pop out of the mags. I had a can of Federal .22. They seem to have less wiggle up and down. They appear to be oriented correctly and they cycled pretty well full loaded. I loaded up another mag with CCI Minimags and the amount of up/down play was noticeable and significant. I might see if I can pick up a couple boxes of other brands and see if I am getting similar results. I am starting to regret selling my 10/22 now. I might just have to pick up another one now. |
| it sounds like the inside of the feedlips may be a little rough from some kind of manufacturing process and are holding the rim a little more tightly than they should. if possible, disassemble the mags and grab a scrap of emery cloth and smooth the inside edges of the feedlips. it sounds like another poster just broke his in by running ammo through to smooth it out. I looked at mine and the feedlips are plastic. |

Sounds like a strange issue for Blackdog mags. Though I sold all mine and replaced them with 100% reliable SW M&P 22 mags and better mag adapter, I like to have last shot hold open too.. The Blackdogs I had all worked very well.
I do not suppose you have a different dedicated upper you could try them in? What upper are you running them in? I did keep my Blackdog 50 round drums. They are flawless also. Maybe load them all up and let the mags set a few days loaded.. Maybe they just need some breaking in.. I do not remember if the Black Dogs springs go a certain direction, but maybe the springs are installed backwards for some reason, if they even can be, and are not putting the pressure properly on the follower?. Good Luck |

Good Luck Have you tried cleaning your black dog mags? Not trying to threadjack but I got a better mag adapter and with it in my M-16, I couldn't get the bolt to move as the adapter rubbed on it. Is the adapter compatible with the sear trip? |
