Nice build and done on a decent budget. I want to put mine together but I'm going to have to wait until spring so I have warm enough weather to spray and bake the cerakote and dip graphics myself. Yeah i did the duracoat at 28 degrees and it was not a good idea but the finish ended up being ok..ended up dragging my painting box into the kitchen. |
| I'm loyal to eotechs but i don't think one would look right on it so i'm open to suggestions. Maybe an aimpoint? Like i said i wish i'd gone with the primary arms micro during the sales. Thanks for the compliments guys hopefully i will get her to the range at the weekend. |

IMO, that's classic undergassed/short stroking. Friend's rifle build did it with a misaligned gas block and my 10.5" pistol was doing it (gas port too small).
First double check the gas block alignment. Were you shooting .223? If so and you could try some 5.56 and if there's no problem with 5.56, definitely undergassed. Gas key tight, rings ok? You can try a rifle tube/buffer (rifle buffers are between H2 and H3 weight), will likely make it worse, but worth a shot if you've got the parts. |

Thanks your thoughts are kinda what i'm thinking, after checking everything else just now i'm beginning to think the issue is either the gas block is too far back or there is a blockage somewhere (either hole is too small or something in the gas tube or something like that). Will running some 5.56 through it tomorrow and check that if not then i guess it's time to get that damn rail off the thing and mess with the gas block. ARGH!
p.s. just emailed Kurt with KAK, what a fantastic company, he got back to me within 30 mins. apparently the gas block can sit against the shoulder of the barrel for that block. Will still check the hole size etc after a run with some higher pressure ammo tomorrow. |
| Which bcg was it? I started to order a psa ptac until I saw some reviews and was glad I didn't when I found the spikes for $112 shipped. I would be interested in knowing which part on the bcg is not right. If it is a replacable part it might be good to have an extra. |

Still trying to figure that out as the bolt, extractor, cam pin, firing pin etc all seem to be fine. The carrier itself is very tight in the upper and could potentially be out of spec i'm not sure. I've had the bcg for a couple of years but it's never been used. it wasn't a psa but to be honest i got it so long ago i don't remember the brand. I got it from midway some time ago. |

Likely! What ammo were you using? Quoted:

pm sent.. you need an oring 100 percent.. Likely! What ammo were you using? Firstly thanks for the pm's always nice to know I have people to help when I'm being moronic. Anyway I used a variety of ammo from cheap .223 55 grain to some much heavier 5.56 which is when I figured it wasn't a gas problem but a bolt one. Hence why I swapped out the bcg and everything worked perfectly. |
