Not a problem with the slings, a problem with my set up. I have 2 AR's with fixed stocks. One is a conventional reciever and the other is a Cav Arms one peice unit. Both have conventional handguards. The Vickers sling looks just like what I want for these rifles. Is it all possible to mount this sling on these guns since they don't have a collapsible stock or Railed Forend? Especially the Cav Arms rifle. |

If you look at the thing that came with the sling, it shows the sling mounted to a blue gun M4 in standard issue configuration. It assumes a side sling adaptor forward and a M4 style stock aft. No other fancy hardware. If you add a side sling adaptor forward, under the FSB - assuming you have no rails - you're good to go. You can also add any kind of FSB sling mount. KAC makes a QD mount as does GG&G, MI and others make a rail mount that will fit the FSB and take any rail mounted sling swivel. There are also a couple of regular sling swivels you can get to mount on the FSB. Or you can get the one in the picture, mounted on the barrel under the FSB. For the rear on the Cav, just pass the sling through the sling slot. I haven't tried that, since I don't own a Cav but it should work. You may just have to allow a little more slack. The installation shown - on the form that comes with the stock does just that - passes the sling through the M4 stock with no hardware. For a regular fixed stock, DD offers the single point Burnsed Loop for a fixed stock, and TD offers the PR16 which is a QD sling mount that mounts on and or over a standard fixed stock. I don't know if the PR16 will work with the Cav or not. You could also make a para-cord loop setup of some kind that would work on both ends, ala the IDF, that would work and not require any additional hardware. |

Blue Force Gear makes a ton of adapters including adapters for A2 and M4 buttstocks. Even if they don't directly connect to the Vickers sling I'm sure you could figure out a way to make them work. They are all lited as being made for the SOC sling, but the Vickers sling comes with a fastex buckle at the front and you can add a fastex buckle at the rear. blueforcegear.com/slings.cfm www.adcofirearms.com/acc/ProductLineBlueForceB.cfm?brand=Blue%20Force%20Gear&page=BlueForce dsgarms.com/index.cfm?currentpage=2&fuseaction=category.display&category_id=37&CFID=408128&CFTOKEN=52892174 |

Yup, BFG has adapters. Use the A2 adapter for the rear and the A2/M4 adapter up front. You could also install a burnsed loop on the A2 stock (IIRC) which would allow the sling to mount between the stock and the receiver. Depending on color, I believe I have all colors of the adapters you would need in stock, as well as the VCAS slings themselves. Giff |
| Giff, I'm gonna be knockin on your door again w/in the next couple months if you're still selling the Vickers slings. Gonna need another one for an A4 build....gonna go w/ the OD/Foliage again and need a A2 Stock adapter....and do you guys think it'll be alright to mount a sling mount onto my Knights M5 RAS (non free float)??? The mount would be on the 9 o'clock towards the rear of the rail...directly in front of the receiver. |
gracias...as i only have one sling mounted AR at this point and it's on a DD free float so i wasn't sure bing that the KAC M5 is a handguard rail....now that i think about it though i read your MI review and remember you saying that slings mounted on the rails worked fine! thanks again! |
No need to break open a pack if you don't have any on hand. I can give BFG a call and see if they have any available. The only place I've seen this specific adapter listed was at Adco and I think I got their last one. |
That should work, but I wonder if it'll cause a problem with twisting since the slot is so low? Boonie Packer makes an adapter for the front that loops around the barrel and through the FSB that's made of Kevlar so it won't melt. They make a rear adapter for an A2 stock that should work on the CavArms too. |
