UTM is Ultimate Training Munition. It is a brand of non-lethal force on force training munition that uses blue as a safety color. The cartridges themselves are the same size as regular cartridges. In order to fire UTM you either have to have a dedicated host weapon or a conversion barrel. Outside of legitimate LE/Mil training shooting each other with even non lethal training ammo is a very bad idea.

Is the gray one in the middle of the pic UDE? Looks like foliage to me. I want a orange one!!! Yup, foliage green but it looks grey with my camera flash. I bought 3 orange ones on a whim now I wish I'd have cleaned them out. You never see orange or blue anymore. |

Maybe it's your flash/camera, but I thought the real orange pmags were more of a brighter, safety orange color - yours look like they are foliage, UDE, or FDE mags that were died orange... The blue mags are still available - just available to LE/mil directly - Joe civilian has to get them through the secondary market. |

I have never seen another one in person and the pictures seem to have all sorts of different shades of orange. I took them out shooting a number of times and even broke the follower guide on one but it still works. |

While I can't TELL you not to use blue magazine, I'd strongly suggest that you PLEASE don't use a blue magazine for anything other than blank or inert ammo.
Reason being is that DoD (and NATO) uses light blue color coding for training or inert ordnance. http://www.ordnance.org/color.htm It's a safety thing. |

PS - it might not work, anyways...
http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/category/product-announcement/page/4/ Ultimate Training Munitions had prototypes of their new 5.56 training magazine on display today. The new mags feature a center channel that’s sized for the neck of their training rounds. UTM’s shorter, thinner tipped rounds will feed fine, but a live 5.56 round will be too big to fit past that center channel. So, if you see a blue magazine in a weapon you’ll know that it’s loaded with one of UTM’s three training rounds; marking round, silent blank, or loud blank. We weren’t familiar with UTM’s training system but got the rundown on their MMR (man marker rounds) and were impressed enough to get a full system demo. Check back for a GearScout video on their system when we get some range time under our earpro. |

Quoted: it's for training with inert rounds (non-live ammo). do not use around peeps that know what the blue color stands for! you might just be in a load of trouble for it! kinda like blue training pistols in LE. What kind of trouble do you believe one would get in? |

Quoted: well, it would kinda be like handing someone a loaded weapon, but assuring them it wasn't................but without saying so. ya know what i mean; blue mag = training/inert rounds. You said: "do not use around peeps that know what the blue color stands for! you might just be in a load of trouble for it!" Your implication is that is is somehow illegal to use a blue magazine with non-training ammunition- it is not.

I have 2 orange windowed P-Mags...are they worth anything to a collector? |

You can run UTM rounds through your standard work upper which is one of the HUGE benfits they have over other training rounds. Rick |

The MMR (man marker round) that I am familiar with were all necked down. So your 9mm rounds looked a bit like .357 sig. Then again I did not train with any of the rifle caliber rounds. |

Yes, the new Simuniton rounds can be run with a standard upper, and all you have to change is the bolt. |

How many DoD and NATO personnel hang out at your ranges and so what if they did. What can they do if the happen to see you using a blue PMag? NOTHING. They are legal to use for any purpose. |
