Over the past few times I went to the range I am having the same issue.  After a few rounds fired the bolt on my AR15 gets stuck in the chamber.  It stacks very hard and I have been sticking a screwdriver through the mag well and porying it open.  Although I did just learn the proper way tc clear it by mortering it.

Anyways, the 1st time this happened I reached out to Daniel Defense to set up an RMA.  I took it out Saturday and it shot fine so I canceled the RMA.  Today I went and the same thing happened.  Today, I also brought my AR pistol and the same thing started happening to that.

I recently purchased 1k rounds of 55 grain M193 FMJ Ball Range Grade Ammo from Fedarm.  Apparently it is once fired military & police ammo that has been reloaded.

I am assuming this could be the issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

If it’s happening in two rifles that didn’t previously have the issue I’d say it’s the ammo. Try another ammo

NM, you knew about mortaring it.

+1  Change ammo.

Start with ammo.

Probably not your issue, but check to make sure the gas-key is PERFECTLY round.
I had one that was just a tiny bit flat on the top, and it would OFTEN catch on the gas-tube in the gun.

My guess is that the ammo was not resized to original specs and you have a tight chamber.

I built an AR with a DD barrel and BCG that was a little on the tight side and would do this.  After a couple hundred rounds it broke in.

When remanufactured ammo is in the mix that's the first place I'd look.

This.  With how cheap quality factory ammo is today and how many issues crop up with these “reloading” companies, I’d never even entertain the thought of buying the reman crap (unless it’s Black Hills).

This and ammo you did not reload yourself.  You could have some out of spec ammo or not properly sized.

This. That said, you're shooting remanufactered ammo and I'd move away from that.

OP
If it only happens with your reloaded ammo then you have your answer as several here have pointed out -ammo.
If your ammo was not resized and trimmed to length properly it will cause this problem.
If it happens with other ammo as well then you have to problem solve.

If so, I suggest you clean the rifle really well, including using a bore brush with cleaner/lube of choice - I prefer CLP for this job.
This includes cleaning the BCG really well.  Does the BCG slide in and out freely? If not, remove the bolt from the carrier and see if the carrier slides freely.
If the carrier does not engage freely then check the gas key for damage such as being bent.

Ammo and/or a dirty rifle are often the problem.

You can also post these type of questions in Troubleshooting as well.

I agree with improperly sized brass on the reloads.

I could be wrong but swear there was another thread recently about a similar issue and it seemed pretty apparent, just visually (to me anyway), that the ammo hadn't had the shoulder set back properly. I could be mis-remembering...
(Disclaimer: I stay away from reman as well. Factory stuff, or my own loads, that's it.)

This crossed my mind, too.

OP, pull the bolt from the BCG and drop the BCG back into the upper to check if the gas key is binding up on the gas tube. If the gas key engages and disengages the gas tube freely, then you can at least rule that out. I've read stories of bent or misshapen gas tubes causing hangups.

I saw this issue many times while working as an RSO. 99% of the time all the rifle needed was a little oil.

+1.

Remanufactured ammo is your culprit.  Want to be sure? Try NEW factory ammo like Fed/American Eagle.

BTW, it is not the bolt stuck in chamber, it is the stuck casing.
