I need to replace the spring for my bolt catch but I was unable to punch out the pin.  Is there a trick to getting this out? I tried using a punch bet I couldn't get it to line up straight and it bent then broke.

Thanks in advance.

That's what I use, it works great.

There is a special punch designed for this one operation that is shaved on one side to allow straight-on alignment.
I wouldn't try knocking out a bolt catch roll pin without one. You can't square up with a normal roll pin punch because of interference caused by the receiver.
Brownell's Bolt Catch Punch

As per usual, tape-protect the receiver.

Or for clearance, just grind the side off the correct size punch.

OK, but what's the correct size punch?
