I have a bolt/carrier setup that I want to use (it's been in storage for a while now) and I was just looking at the markings and noticed something...the carrier has the "C" mark for Colt, but the Bolt is marked with a MP (NOT MPC). It is stamped on the bolt head (stamped like you take a ice pick and "tap" dots until you make a letter). What kind of bolt is it? I have other Colt bolts/carriers that are all marked with MPC so this one threw me off... |

The odds are that it's a Viet Nam era contract bolt assy. both H&R and GM, who built M16s during the Viet Nam fracas, used bolts so marked. Got one myself awhile back, along w/a bunch of MP C marked units, from an outfit selling off parts from torn down M16A1s. Not to worry[:D]. It's every bit as good a piece as any of the MP C units, and a heck of a lot better finished off than most of the current commercial stuff. |
