Okay I just put on a new magpul PRS stock. I don't remember the bolt opening and closing without a mag in the lower. I put a mag in the well and the bolt stays open and i need to hit the catch release no problems except for a really annoying Sprooing!!!. With no mag, when i pull the charging handle the bolt doen't catch. I don't remember this when i had the other stock on her. It was the ACE tube stock so i needed to buy an A2 buffer tube and used the same spring. Or is this how it is supposed to be?????
lower is Noveske, DMR trigger, DPMS LPK, and upper is Noveske .556 14.5 with pinned brake with vis. |
| If you look into the ejection port while operating the action, you will see how the empty mag operates the bolt catch! This is normal and correct operation. Don't like the "sproing" noise? Grease up your action/recoil spring with plain old axle grease, use about two fingers full of it and just goop it all over the whole length of the spring, the noise will totally disappear, and it does not hurt a thing if your weapon is built right, in fact, it will help smooth out your action and preserve the life of your weapon. |

One thing to remember about grease, especially grease not intended to be used in firearms. The colder the temperature is the thicker the grease in going to get. If it is cold enough and you goop that grease in the extension tube, you will cause a stoppage, and a messy one too. Just a thought. |
