Ok so I was installing my bolt catch and it went in fine. When I tried to use the bolt catch it felt like it was caught up on something. I reinstalled it and it still was stiff. It works great until the roll pin goes in half way. Then it starts getting caught on something. Any suggestions?

Am I the only one with this issue?

Is the roll pin tight in the bolt catch itself? If it is then there's your problem.

Tight? As in hard to get out? Then no. This is my first build though.

Did you try dry fitting the roll pin in the bolt catch before installing it, maybe the channel in the bolt catch for the roll pin is a little undersized?

This is what it sounds like to me also....remove the pin and see if the catch will freely spin on the roll pin.

The pin shrinks when pressed into the lower. If you just try fitting in into the catch before the lower..they will not freely spin.

So if you press a steel pin into an aluminum reciever, the steel pin shrinks?

Its a roll pin or spring pin....its is not a sold pin.

he should have used the word compress. the ends of the roll pin have a radius cut so that the pin can compress as it enters the ears in the lower. the tension of the compression holds it in place.
