I know its best to use the bolt that came with the rifle but I couldn't afford one at the time I bought my upper. My question is, Is it safe to use a bolt from a different rifle as long as it has the proper head-space?

I hope that sounds clear.

If you check the headspace and it is within spec then it will be fine. However, to check the headspace you have to have the proper equipment, if memory serves, they cost close to a new bolt.....

I would just buy a new bolt

No, the headspace is what it is.
As long as the barrel ext. and the bolt are within spec, it will be just fine.

I have a brand new barreled upper, so it should be fine with a new bolt, Just want to make sure.
