| What does everyone think of the Bore Snakes. It seems to make things really easy but I know you get what you pay for per say. Any suggestions or comments. |
| I won't have my first AR until Sat, but I use a bore snake on other guns for a quick clean. I'll spray the action with a little Gun Scrubber then run the Bore Snake through the barrel a few times. It's not the perfect clean, but it will do until I have time to do a proper cleaning. It also comes in handy for my Ruger MKIII. That thing is a b*tch to strip and reassemble sometimes. Normally it just gets a good hosing of Gun Scrubber with a Q-tip to the feed ramp, followed by the Bore Snake and a little Remington gun oil. Every 500 - 750 rounds I'll strip it and clean it right. |
Yes, I have. During last year's tour in AFG I never used anything but a bore snake on the M4, and I haven't since I returned, either. It shoots just fine. I also used a .30 caliber snake for cleaning the SR-25 in the field. After a few shots through the suppresor the chamber would be filthy and the chambered round would corrode and become quite stuck. A chamber brush with CLP followed by a snake would clear this up withot needing a rod, patches and chemicals. |
