Just took delivery of flat top from Bravo.  The interior appears to be corroded.  There are a dozen spots or so.  I thought it might be coating but I scrapped one spot to see.  It looks like aluminum.  What gives?

You are probably seeing the dry lube that Bravo Company uses in their uppers.  It's a gray color and has an uneven look to it.  Post a picture, if it's not the dry lube then BCM will take care of you.

Did you ever consider shooting them an email?  Or shooting, period?  Shoot the damn thing, then let us know if there are any functional problems, which in all likelihood, there won't be.

Why would we do that? It's so much easier to run to the internet and make yourself look like a fucking idiot at the expense of the manufacturer.

I noticed the same while I was cleaning my new one last week.  Except I threw the BCG in there and went shooting.  No big deal.

It has nothing to do with being an expert.  It's called common sense.

Issue: I'm not happy with my product or I think something is wrong with my product.

Option 1: Call vendor or manufacturer to see if this is normal.  If not arrange an exchange or refund during the same call.

Option 2: Post on the internet.  Get multiple answers from multiple people not knowing who to believe.  End up having to go option 1 route anyways after 10+ pages and 7 account locks.

Hmmmmmm.....................

That's why vendors have "contact us" pages on their websites.

Grayish.

This isn't a color issue.  It looks like paint that froze before drying giving it a snow flake appearance.  It is also rough to the touch.  As stated above
I did scrape a small spot off it turned silver.  Does that mean the finish is gone? Will solvents remove it?

Function probably not,  but alot of it is were the rails of the bolt carrier travel.  It could retain carbon & other crud when cleaning.  I'm not installing it without knowing & you wouldn't either.   This is a forum & people ask questions.  I'm not bashing Bravo or anyone else.  I figured someone on here had simular experience.

The thread should have ended here... where the manufacturer himself tells you that what you're looking at is the dry lube baked on the inside of the upper.

Dude, it's the dry film lubricant in the upper. It will wear off.
