For the hard to get to spots the aerosol. For the outside work the liquid and easy to get to the liquid.

I used the aerosol once and my AR was dripping with CLP. The liquid is much easier to control.

I use the aerosol for cleaning, it seems to have a better solvent action.

Liquid.
I generally only use it for lube - I use Hoppes for cleaning.
Except when I'm in a hurry like this morning - and I used CLP for a 'quick' cleaning.

Liquid only. I used to use the aerosol back in the day, but I couldn't apply it as carefully as the liquid, not to mention the amount of fumes from the aerosol that I inhaled.

Liquid, as it's only for lube. I hated cleaning weapons with CLP in the Army and I will never go back to that.
