| I notice nowadays when shooting my colt 6920 since it now has so many rounds through it, it seems like all of my light loads seem to recoil and kick a little harder than when the gun was new and xm193 definatly kicks and recoils harder than when the gun was new. The gun has round 4000 rounds through it, is this a normal gas port erosion thing or what? |

Your gas port has eroded some, and your action spring (buffer spring) is starting to get soft - and all the moving parts have worn together to reduce friction. A new buffer spring and/or a heavier buffer may slow things down a bit, but a new action spring should be in your near future. Does your Colt have an H2 buffer? |

You will not have much erosion at the port but all the moving surfaces of the bolt carrier group have smoothed up and reduced the amount of gas required to cycle the action. Good on you for noticing the increase in recoil. Some guys never get to a point where they feel the buffer hitting bottom in the extension. While it is not a lot of recoil being able to detect slight changes in the cycling will only make you a better shooter. |
| Yes I have a Nagant and I yes I know the ar in 556 has no kick compared to other weapons but there seems to be a noticable difference in RECOIL. I replaced the buffer spring every 2000 rounds so I just did it before this shoot. I am running an H buffer but awaiting an H2. Thanks for the help. |

I love the abuse a steel buttplate provides  It's even better with the M38 carbine. With less weight to absorb the recoil you really notice it.
