I'm kinda confused. I just received two brownells usgi 20 rnd mags that I ordered on Saturday. They had been out of stock for months and I noticed that they were finally available so I ordered two along with some other things I needed. I still have a ten pack of thirties,I'm waiting on that I ordered back on the second of jan. I'm very happy with the quick turnaround but when I opened the package I noticed that the mags had 3/09 stamped into them. How can mags that were made  Four years ago that had been out of stock for so long suddenly be available. New production sure but four years old? Seems weird

If they're never changing the date stamp, they should just stamp them 3/93 and be done with it.

I got Fusil mags from midway today that were dated 12/08. They just got these in stock.

I ordered and received three 20 rounders about a month ago...stamped 2/13.  Thought about getting a few more, but I'm waiting for some D&H 20 rounders to become available.

But they may not have been out of stock. They were just getting far more orders than they could handle, in stock or not, and may have just took them off the site. Also, it wouldnt be unheard of to find a stash of something in a wharehouse that got misplaced.... Hey guys check this shite out! A pallet of 20 round mags we didnt know we had!, etc... Etc... What im sure of is that no one at Brownells is pulling a fast one on you or anyone else....

Except for the fact that they have been screwing people with backorders by not filling them and listing the same products as in stock on their website. I like Brownells but they need to get their shit straightened out.

Semi-off topic: What are peoples experiences with the Brownells straight 20's? I know they're a different style than NHMTG and Colt, but other than that, I couldn't find much else about them in terms of reviews.

I order two Brownells 20rd mags with ranger plates last month, and they're stamped 02-13

I quickly swapped the ranger plates onto a pair of ASC mags...

How are they different from the other 20rd mags? I only have a 30rd NHMTG to compare them to.

I'm not 100% sure since the information on the Brownells magazines is hard to come by. Apparently they used to rebrand C-Products and offered a curved 20 round mag. But I think ever since they've become a manufacturer of legitimate USGI 30 rounders, the straight 20 rounders seem to be the only ones available. But don't quote me on that. The info is really scattered and sparse (more excuses on my part). Physically, though, I do believe the main differences have to do with the weld down the spine and also the feedlips. Since you have Brownells 20 rounders, maybe you can shed some light. The post by Banditman on this thread has very closeup pictures of NHMTG and Colt straight 20 rounders that show the distinct feedlips and welds. His post is the one with the red and wood background:

I only have one, it sometimes will not lock open on the last shot. Other than that it feeds fine.

They probably have the correct manufacture date.  I bet they were found in a warehouse somewhere after having been overlooked for years.

You can say that again - I've had some Magpuls on backorder at Brownells since the first week of January. Then I find out today on another thread that a guy bought some in April. I went back to Brownells website tonight and it still shows them as unavailable for backorder and that current backorders will be maintained. WTF??

Finally!!  I placed an order through Brownells the first week in January. I ordered a Tactical 10-pack of their AR magazines. Just got an email saying they have shipped for 98.00 ish total. I was at the point of thinking the order had got lost is the January fiasco.

I'd go with this.  Either they were found in a dank corner of the Brownell's warehouse, or at the warehouse of the stamping plant.

You know what, i just looked at the 20 rounders I received in march... Sure as shit 3/09 stamp... Perhaps they just messed up and forgot to update the stamp?

My 20's are the same date stamp.

Maybe no one was buying 20's until the panic hit and there were pallets of stock in the warehouse.  I ordered 20's and 30's back in January.  The 20's came immediately and the 30's took 4 months.  I just assumed they had an ass load of 20's collecting dust and were finally being sold.  Regardless, I could care less what the date stamp is, as long as it isn't dated in the future...... I'm good!

Sounds like a very plausible explanation to me.  Plus the fact most of our vendors didn't hire on extra help during this latest demo-fiasco, slowing orders & shipping for what they did have in stock.  Not to mention several businesses experienced massive computer meltdowns and  overloads as well.
