Can anyone recommend a decent free float hand guard for a guy on a budget with his 3rd kid on the way?
I like the free float design, this is my first build and the last piece of the puzzle i need. One that you can personally say your happy with. One that meets the upper rail nicely and no gas system alignment or issues with my low pro gas block. (i seen some saying you need a micro gas block?) I want to keep it as close to 100 as possible, i see alot on amazon for around 80. I have a 16" barrel with carbine system and want to cover my block and a good portion of the barrel after that. Thanks |

Well after doing a lot or looking around myself I picked the YHM Diamond series hand guard. I got a rifle length to cover my mid length gas block. While I haven't finished the build, the hand guard looks good and I expect no problems. 130 for rifle length. And don't forget to get a end cap if you want that look I got the A to go with a .750 barrel.

Thanks A friend of mine got one of these, works well and fits well. Took him 2 weeks to get it from the day he ordered it. http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=448 |

Not sure what your lo-pro gas block is, but AIM Surplus has Troy 7" tubes and a 9" rail still in stock, but that won't get you out past your gas block. Might help some others though.
If the lo-pro is some big honking thing, then YHM is a good choice. Amazon (unless a known and ID'ed gun store/distributor) is quite likely to be fake or junk. |

I got mine from joebobs
http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Diamond_Series_Forearms_p/yhm-dx.htm and they had the end caps too http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Forearm_End_Caps_Std_H_Bar_Barrels_p/yhm-9484-a.htm Joseph |

I've been eyeing Samson Mfg and their adaptable free float, not quad rail. Also Seekins doesn't ahve bad prices either if you can find them.
Rainier Evolutions are cool and are made by Samson, and they are reasonable. Midwest Industries have pretty good products as well and are reasonable. I lucked up at the Vltor Store and scored a discontinued CASV-S for $155. I should've ordered 2. |
| The YHM free floating handguards are out of stock at Joe Bob's. I ordered one from a vendor in the EE. I think the company name is bright flash lights. They offered a good price for the diamond specter. I placed my order on Monday and it should arrive tomorrow. |
