Looking for a Precision AR on a stateside E4 budget, who has a car payment and other assorted bills. Prefer a 20 inch barrel, free floated rails. Plan on putting an ACOG on it till I can afford a real scope. Eventually Ill save up and put a magpul stock on it. Ideas?

Look at rock river guns... the ones with the stainless wilson "bull" brls shoot really nice...

Armalite had some great specials over the holidays, I don't know if they'll come around again, but I have seen a few of them come through the EE priced somewhere between the sale price and regular price. The stainless barrel upper would most likely do what you want.

I bought a RRA SS 1/8 upper and put a Troy FFR on it. I then bought a stripped DS lower and bought the rest of the parts to finish it off the EE. I have a little less than 1K in this rifle ( not counting the glass and rings) and it shoots under 1 MOA. I have added a few other things since this picture was taken but it's a good shooter and didn't cost me very much...

i have a 16'' m&a middy and a 20'' blackthorne a3 with cheap as hell scopes and both shoot under 1 moa , so if that's all your looking for, just about any ar will do

Maybe OT, but WTF????

You can afford a real scope if you can afford an ACOG........

Back on topic:
I took a midlength carbine, bought a 18" WOA SPR barrel from ADCO (or elsewhere), and mounted it with a YHM lightweight FF tube.  Best all around setup I've found.

Try a SuperSniper in a Larue mount and 500 rounds of good ammo instead of a ACOG.

This months Gun & Ammo mag had an article on the Stag Arms
varmit rig. I think the best group listed in the test was 1.08"
at 200 yards with factory ammo. Not to bad for around $900.
