I'm putting together my 3rd lower and things are going much better than they ever have. Well, until I get to the easy part. My buffer retainer is too big for the hole in my receiver. Is this is a common problem or some kind of fluke? It is a C3 Defense lower receiver and the buffer retainer is from an lpk from Palmetto State Armory. Any ideas? EDIT/FIXED - I'm keeping the thread up just in case someone has any ideas, but I got just used a drill (GASP) and opened up the hole for the buffer retainer a little at a time until it fit. I didn't even leave idiot marks...

Clean up the edges of the hole, lightly scrape with a drill bit? Is it just thick coating from the finishing process or is the hole just not drilled right?
May have to touch up the hole with the right sized bit...........unless you return it to the maker to get it fixed by them. |

HA! I didn't see it in time, but we must be pretty smart people (even though I was slow to reach the conclusion) to come up with the same solution. It fits, the buffer extension tube is in place, the the buffer and spring are being held in place. I figured that the buffer retainer is held in place by the extension tube so it wouldn't matter if I took a little too much out. The only thing that kind of bothers me is that the extension tube barely rests on the edge of the retainer. When I try to rotate the extension tube one more time, it won't fit. I'm sure it is fine, though. Thanks for the idea!
