| I finished building my first lower and have some concerns about the buffer retaining pin. My stock threads on barley far enough to hold the retainer down. I can thread it on one more turn but then it is touching the center part of the pin. Will I be better off leaving it or threading it on one more time and having it touch the center of the pin? |

It's a carbine stock, right?
If you can get one more turn and it will still move up and down that is probably better. The risk with the extension not covering it up far enough is the thing may pop out and end up somewhere in the internals, jamming up the gun. The retainers only function is to hold the buffer back when separating the receivers. You could shoot the gun without one (although maintenance would be a pain). So, as long as it goes up and down to hold the buffer in it is good. If the last turn locks up the retainer's movement then you have to back it off one turn. Some people will cut a little room out of the extension to accommodate the unusual fitting extension. I've never done it or had the need to do it. |
