I remember reading awhile back about DSA and Vltor buffer tube issues, so minus the PWS tube which is pretty stout, what's the go to buffer tube everyone is using these days? I see the DD tube and LMT tube has high marks but I can't seem to locate anywhere that has them in stock. The Bravo Company tube any good?
Actually even better would be kit with a quality tube and either an CTR or ACS. |

I think the threads are rolled now instead of cut. Having seen pictures of Stag/CMT I know the good ones are cut. |

Check out palmetto stAte armory. They have a lot of options for getting just what you want. I have a DD tube and it seems to function great and my ACS stock locks up really tight on it. I did look at them but saw no indiction of who manufactures the tube. Same deal at Rainer Arms which is a preferred dealer for me. Might have to post in the dealer forums....... Quoted:
You can get the LMT tubes from G&R tactical or Eagle Armory. They are by far one of the best tubes i have used. Thanks for pointing out G&R and I'll relook at Eagle again. |

I bought a mil spec but slightly thicker buffer tube from DS Arms bought through Brownells and that is my new favorite. Makes for a snug fit on the Emod I am using with it.

I think Vltor outsourced some of the manufacturing of the tube... some were saying it was DSA who was doing them, but no confirmation... The Vltor I have all appear to be Vltor and have the 'V' design on the end of the tube that was supposedly the way to tell them apart and they have been fine. I also have a LMT that is excellent. |
| I like anything from a known manufacturer, Commercial or Milspec, really doesn't bother me either way. Stay clear of the UTG, NCStar etc imported stuff and it'll serve you well imho. You can get into 6061 vs 7075 steel debate, but its all worked for me. Tapco has both a 6061 commercial or a 7075 impact extruded milspec that have proven to work good imho. |

VLTOR had some outsourced during the rush. The outsourced ones had the VLTOR logo printed on the end in white I believe. The good (and current) ones from VLTOR have the logo stamped on the end. These are very much preferred and are GTG. So like this guy then - current Vltor - as it looks like what you are talking about. |

I've got mil-spec size BCM, Colt, LMT, DSA, and Vltor tubes, all of them are mil-spec material of forged 7075 except for the extruded 6061 DSA which they openly stated.
My favorite because of their slightly oversized outer diameter is the BCM which fits better and snug with my CTR, MOE, Vltor IMOD, EMOD, Colt/ LMT M4 stocks. For overall good looks and finish I prefer my Vltor tube, also they're only 5 position tube compared to the others which are 6 position (except Colt are 4 position only). |

Excellent receiver extension. Forged, laser marked positions, tough finish... |
