I have an RRA entry stock from Brownells that's giving me some trouble.  It comes with a carbine buffer and spring.  Gun cycles fine but the BCG doesn't travel back far enough to engage the bolt catch on the last round, so either the buffer is 1/4in too long or the supplied buffer tube is 1/4in too short (compared to my 6 pos milspec tube it is a shade shorter).

I really like the entry stock.  Anybody have an idea to fix this?  I could always get an A1 stock and live with the extra ~inch but I'd like to see if I can make this stock work.  After some gentle googling it doesn't appear I can buy just the receiver extension for this stock.

Thanks

Check your stock screw.  If your using an A2 stock screw it will stick forward too far.  The stubby stock needs the short A1 screw.

Check your spring, if you have a rifle spring the spring will fully compress before the buffer travels all the way to the rear.

I doubt the buffer tube is too short, it would be noticeably short in the stock.

It seems like a few REs have been found with the internal depth too short.
However the wrong screw or spring is more common.

yessir, it was an A2 screw!  Swapped it for an A1 length screw and all is right with the world

Thanks, I never would have thought of that.
