I am having some cycling issues with my CMMG ar15. The one thing I notice is the angle the buffer sits in the buffer tube at rest. The top side leans much further forward than the bottom. The buffer tube is right to spec at 1.00 inch and the buffer is .980. Does everyone elses buffer lean forward sitting on that nipple, or is my buffer too small?

first it was short stroking. It would eject the shell but wouldnt pull one from the magazine or lock open on the last round. Now it doesnt cycle at all. the bolt moves back about an 1/8 of an inch and jams. I have used federal, remington, wolf and silver bear rounds will the same result. I took off the gas block the other day and checked the alignment of everything and I all seemed good. Its a full cmmg upper that came assembled from them that working great for the first several hundred rounds then it started the short stroking. It was on a dpms lower at the time which shortly after I swapped it out with a cmmg stripped lower that I assembled with a dpms parts kit and the issue still continued. I changed the buffer spring with a new ati one, and still no change. im stumped.

Bolt gas rings?  Does the bolt "jam" which I assume means locks in place?  Can you pull it open with the charging handle? Does the gas tube line up properly with the carrier key?  Does the carrier enter the buffer tube freely?  Without a bolt, or buffer and spring simply use gravity to find out if the carrier has a free path to travel........llc
