How often I should change buffer spring on my AR(s)? Bushmaster Tech told me to change it between 6000- 8000 rds.

It is inexpensive part and I have lots of them, but I would like know what is correct suggestion by military units? KevinB, ColdBlue?

Thanks,

Is there any rule of thumb for when that may be? ie. When is a good schedule to take it apart and measure it?

I think the TM says to measure it annually.  I've never had to replace one.
