So I've seen posts that say use this buffer with that gas system, or that buffer with this gas system. Some say use a heavy buffer in everything, because it reduces wear and tear and makes the gun run better (if it always goes BANG I don't know what "runs better" means). Some say they use 9mm buffers in all their builds. Some say they use those aftermarket jobs (heavier than the 9mm buffer) in the pistol calibers. I know heavy buffers reduce cyclic rate in full-autos, but what is their purpose in semi builds? I'm confused. Is there a cheat sheet for buffer weights vs gas length vs caliber? Is there a universally accepted buffer that will work in all/most types of builds? Or am I doomed to be perpetually curious if I have the "right" buffer installed in my <insert length or caliber here> |
