I am seeking some guidance on some option I have currently. I know this seems silly and I am probably over thinking it but I would like some input nonetheless.
So here is my situation. I have a 16" hbar carbine with an low end keymod rail which has an extremely heavy barrel nut, in conjunction with the hbar makes for a slightly heavier than normal carbine. I also purchased a new lower for a pistol build which will have a 10.5" bbl. To maintain ballistic performance if I ever decide to go sbr with it. My dilemma is that I am on a fairly tight budget so I am trying to space the parts out. I have found a really great deal on a much lighter free float handguard for the rifle but I am torn between buying that or more parts toward completing the pistol build (so far I have the lower with lpk and grip) Given the current political climate, should I not worry about the rifle and leave it as is for now, work on the pistol build, or forget both of those options and spend my money on std cap mags and ammo? Any constructive input would be much appreciated, thanks! |

Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking. I did start my first build last December after the San B. attack so there was a bit of a run on parts and I actually found that upper receivers and barrels were hard to find at that time.
And yes, I am kinda worried about November. It seems too close for comfort this year but we will see what happens at the RNC and the months to come. The uncertainty is what is driving me to complete this pistol build before year end just as an insurance policy for myself in the event that there is some sort of awb or more significant restrictions. I think my plan then is to go for the upper, bcg, and barrel first since those are the more major components. Then maybe get as many mags as I can. And hopefully if things calm down, politically, I'll go for some of the more frivolous tacticool accessories. |

I would by another lower to sock away... The Gov in CA already screwed us by signing new gun regs already... have to register all our ARs. We have till the end of this year to get what we want and then register it next year. Another buying frenzy in CA... Woof...that's terrible. That's what I was originally going to do with this lower but I decided I wanted an operational pistol AR. Maybe I'll squeeze in another lower for stashing before year end. Thanks for the advise. |

Never hurts to squirrel away the lowers, lpks, BCGs, etc. I did this at the beginning of the year and through boredom I find myself once a month assembling a complete lower just because. I now have 4 extra complete lowers in the safe and I am about to put another together as a pistol lower just because. Then I figure I will look and say I do not have any extra lowers or lpks laying around. Need to buy another half dozen of each just because.

I live in MI so as long as it is classified as a pistol, I can carry it loaded/concealed with my cpl. It also has to be under 26" oal to be considered a pistol so I think with a 10.5 " bbl I will be coming in at around 24.5 to 25 inches.
It's sad that we have to hoard this stuff. I just wanna build my Lego guns in peace and enjoy the hobby lol |
