First post blah blah.

Meat and Potatoes:
I just got my DD upper in the mail from Smart Gunner, it's a 16 inch govt contour middy, the one that is $409 on their site now.
I have a Stag lower that I assembled a few weeks ago and it all fits together perfectly except that the pivot take down pin will not go in to the upper. The rear take down pin snaps in perfectly, but the front one goes in just a hair then will not budge, it fits so tight i had to use a screw driver (covered in tape to avoid scratching) and knock the pivot out from the back. This only happens when i try to put the lower and upper together, the pivot pin moves like normal when the upper is taken out of the equation. What is the deal? The lpk came from a very reputable source so I see no reason the pin is too big especially since the other one fits. What is the deal?

Also I know it doesn't exist without pictures, but ill put some up when it is all put together.

Thanks

If you put the pivot pin in first will the lower and upper fit correctly? How much are the holes off by?

I tried putting the pivot pin in first before the rear pin and it still doesnt fit. It fits so tight that if you pivot the upper with the pivot pin in the little bit it goes that the pivot pin itself tries to turn.

It sounds like the front hole is a little small for the pin. Call DD and see what they have to say about it.

I would de burr it and or you might have to polish the inside of the hole alittle at a time till it fits tight, Im woundering if the pin hole was drilled or milled square.... I wounder what would be better either adjust the diffrence with the take down pin or just make the lower to upper fit tighter..... I guess if you want to make sure its what the problem is do the take down pin frist since that is the least expensive part of the problem...

For starters thanks for the help guys.

I compared the holes in the upper and the back hole is bigger then the front. A 1/4 inch drill bit fits easily in the rear hole but not in the front. I twisted the bit a few times by hand and it de-burred the inside of the hole quite a bit, the pivot pin goes in a little further but not all the way still.

Problem solved.

A blister on my thumb from spinning the drill bit a coupe hundred times but it fits like glove (not the one that OJ used).
