Have been building an AR a year for the past 3 years, problem I keep running into is new parts that I just have to have.
So, here are pics of my 3 ARs, the one in the middle is the latest build, it has a Lilja barrel, LANCO tactical matching recievers, AAC muzzle, NiBo bolt carrier and Diamondhead rail, the trigger is an NiBo ALG currently but that may change here hopefully to a GEISSELE SSS...

Nice gats.  Why didn't you do another penis KeyMod forend?

Is this how you make "friends" where you are from... "Why didn't you do another penis KeyMod forend?"  Next time tell me I have pretty eyes or something.    If you are cruising for a piece of ass, sorry dude, I don't swing that way.  But thanks I guess.

Sweet rifles. Lanco is an awesome shop with good people. I want use them for my "hometown" build.

No, I was genuinely curious why you didn't do another KeyMod forend, as there was a recent KeyMod/No Key Mod thread.  They do seemingly pair well w/ the Spikes spider lower, however.

Next one will be an SBR or a 7.62, right?

Nice work.

My problem is that when I finish a build, I end up with a couple extra parts.  I shouldn't let them go to waste, right?

So then I build another one...vicious cycle I tell ya

I do want to build a 7.62/ 3.08 AR with all these "spare" parts.  I have been keeping an eye on the prices of build parts and man they have been coming down like crazy.  Around here standard receivers are selling for $75, billet $125.  I paid $125 for standard receivers & $250 for a billet go figure.  Now I see that AR15 members have talked Bill into making a new trigger over at Geissele (maybe the SSS), might have to start getting parts ready for another build.  The girlfriend has been supportive so far, but I am probably driving her crazy with this BRD.

Nice rigs sir....well done! You can pretty much bank on any new rifle build posted in here will have a key mod rail.....it's almost played out already!
4/18/2014 2:55:18 PM EDT
[#9]
I built my 6.8 last year with the Noveske key mod rail.  I really like the rail, but not the cost associated with it- I paid 1/2 the price for the rail on my latest build.  I am waiting patiently on the Geiselle mk 5 rail for my next build.

OK, so build three is not finished just yet!  Just purchased a Geissele SD-3G trigger from the equipment exchange for this build, and I guess I now have the parts to start build four.

Haven't you heard?  There isn't any crime in MD, so nobody needs guns.  That's why they banned a whole crapload of 'em that were never used in any crime in this state.

Man, I know the cerakote just really gets under your skin, and the Keymod gives you nightmares, but what could possibly be so bad in your infinite experience about Aimpoint products?

OP, congrats on the rifles

nothing against Aimpoint, they make quality products.....but then again, I'm not clearing rooms or involved in close quarters combat!  I'm just a recreational shooter, who likes to put a few rounds down range with my friends on the weekend, and I don't need to dress up my rifle like I'm auditioning to be an extra for the next Hollywood Spec Ops movie......I don't run a vert grip three inches from my mag well, I don't run a flashlight, I don't need a $1,000 ACOG and neither does 95% of the range/mall ninjas I see everywhere these days! I don't wear tapout t-shirts, I don't have a monster sticker on my lifted truck that never even sees the dirt!

There are, however, many people on this forum who are military and/or LEO's who choose to build rifles as close to what they're issued as possible, so they can get more training in on their own time.

thanks for the heads up......are you LE/MIL?  What purpose built shit do you run/need for your job?

Active .mil (note the tank) and I have an exact clone (minus FA capability, of course) of my issued M4 (photo below).  No ACOG yet (mine uses an Eotech 553/SU-231), and sadly the thermal clip-on isn't financially plausible, but it's close enough.

Okay.  I got nothin'

I "run" Aimpoints, just because they work, and have for me for many years as a recreational shooter.  I have had bad experinces with cheap optics on rifles as recreational shooter.  Just lucky me, I suppose.  I don't however, own the Tapout T.

I think it's just the generalizations you throw around about certain components, and coatings on rifles as they equate to all people who own them, that blows.

All good, brother.  I just like to shoot, and a little cerakote never killed a puppy...at least not in the mall.

Yes, I am saying these things "in general".....so you could say I am generalizing.  And it's not the vast majority, just the usual suspects who regurgitate the same nonsensical spew whenever someone is enquiring about a rifle, or specific weapon system.........it's analogous to a cyborg set on repeat: Colt, BCM, Noveske, Aimpoint........Colt, BCM, Noveske, Aimpoint.....Colt, BCM, Noveske, Aimpoint......resulting in a Newb tucking his tail between his legs, grabbing his DPMS or M&P he saved up six months and purchased at a local gun show for $500, never to return ever again.......

This is a perfect example:

Took it to the range yesterday and learned a couple important lessons... don't forget the range box  And feed the hungry teenager BEFORE going to the range.  So, not only do I have problems with FTF very first round chambered, I also have to deal with the starving 125 lb "eating machine".

This is the very first time I have gotten factory ammo without a powder charge, and I wanted to share.  Pic of dud ammo...
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q132/celeiphart/protection/IMG_0478.jpg
http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q132/celeiphart/protection/IMG_0479.jpg

So after what seems to be an eternity, a fellow shooter shows up with a cleaning rod to extract the problem round.  Once that was resolved the trigger was like playing with two big titties (or four if that is your thing )   This trigger is a lot of fun.  But as with all fun things, it comes with a down side.  Not much fun watching 3 30 round mags empty in short order.

So I guess my take on this trigger is, if you shot 3 gun, or there is a zombie apocalypse this is the trigger for you.  It really is a fast trigger, but I am still considering trading it out.  It is bordering on the line of practicality.  As for the questions about the Diamondhead rail, it is ergonomic.  It is not a key mod.  I like it enough that I switched the JP rail off the other rifle and replaced with the Diamondhead.
