I am looking to get/build an RRA and from what I have seen it is almost cheaper to buy.
I know that building it yourself saves "some" money. But what is the actual savings when it comes to stripped lowers/uppers put together with quality parts and getting a complete one? Doesn't the shipping charges from different places eat into the savings?  And yes I know that you get satisfaction from building it yourself.

Thank You
Tony

All valid points.  I chose to build despite the negligible cost savings for several reasons.  First, I can't get exactly what I want and don't have to spend more money to modify or switch out parts after I buy a complete rifle.  Second, is the personal gratification.  I enjoy tinkering and figured it would be a fun Sunday afternoon project.

If you can find a good price on the weapon you want, buy it off the shelf

+1 for building it yourself...  I think the personal gratification is well worth it.  Also if anything goes wrong you will have a lot better idea how to repair it, since you know the entire rifle inside and out.

Another consideration is that by building it yourself you don't pay nearly as much excise tax to uncle Sam.  I believe you only pay tax on the price of the lower, instead of the price of the whole rifle.  This may not be important to you, but why give your hard earned money to THOSE people?

i would go either.
you can usually find a complete rifle off the shelf for slightly more than what it would cost to build with name brand parts for example, using all rra parts like you want.

Either - as long as someone sells exactly what you want for a good price.  If not - build.
