I have got 99% of the plan for my first build, a 9mm version of our beloved AR. I am the proud owner of a complete RRA 5.56 already, and want to explore different calibers as well as build it myself. I am going to list the components I am planning to use, so if anything for any reason is a problem in your opinion, please speak up. The only part I have to date is a Lauer stripped lower which I plan to add the following to: - Stag lower parts kit -RRA 9mm hammer -RRA 9mm buffer -Hahn Precision bottom load mag block -Cav Arms 6 position stock -RRA 9mm A4 upper in midlength -GG&G flip up rear sight -Ergo sure grip I plan on using colt mags when it counts, and promags when it doesnt. I also plan to use the following accessories: magpul enhanced trigger guard, single point sling, eotech 5-11-a65, tango down vert. grip, and YHM 2 piece midlenth rails with ladder type rail covers. And, not that it matters much, but it will be in OD green. I will finish it off finally with a Laser devices OP-9 flashlight w/ 1" mount. So, that is my build as it has been floating around in my head. If you have had any experience with these items or combinations there of, please give me some feedback and keep me from wasting time and money. Thanks. P.S. Yes, I know lots of ammo  |

That all sounds great but I have two things: 1) Why would you use a Stag LPK instead of a RRA? ADCO has RRA kits for $54 and then you'd have a complete, 100% RRA. 2) This contradicts my first suggestion but use a CMT 6 position stock instead because it will have the mil-spec buffer tube. |
I chose the stag kit after reading a thread comparing different kits with side by side comparisions, the Stag seemed to be superior. I chose the Cav arms stock after reading a thread concerning matching of OD colors. RRA has has some mismatching problems, where cav arms has not, and DSG arms has a nice furniture set which includes stock assembly, ergo grip and rail covers for $112. I have been doing my homework, and have a reason for all my choices. It just might not be a good reason. thanks for the reply. |
