I have been looking at Bushmaster, S&W, and DPMS AR/M4 style carbines. Is there any real quality difference between these three manufacturers or are they all about equal?

Are the lowers all mil spec? (I am guessing this i would be pretty standard?)

The prices on the models I have looked at are all comparable, so if the build quality is also comparable then I am guessing it should not matter what manufacturer I go with. Right?

Thanks for any comments, help.

Dan

I had a problem with my bushmaster m4.  Rounds would not load from the right side of the mag.  Tried it with two friends mags, same thing.  Brought it back to the gun shop, same thing for him, he sent it in.  Seemed to be hitting just below where it should on the feed ramp.  Bushmaster said send it in, we'll fix it whatever it is for free.  I'm sad it had that problem, but bush master is treating me very well so far, so take it as you will.  Hope this helps.

Many people are suspect of the quality of DPMS stuff, and to some degree Bushmaster stuff as well.  The S&W has some name appeal to some folks (not me).

None of the lowers are "mil-spec" in the truest sense, since they're not select-fire, but then, none really are except transferable $xx,xxx stuff.

Buy a complete LMT lower and a complete LMT upper for probably just a bit more and call it good.
