I'm starting a project to customize one of my AR's; piston kit, rail, stock, grips, etc...  I have a Bushmaster and a Stag, both 16" carbines.  Can any of you experienced guys suggest which AR to work with?  Especially when it comes to the piston.  Which would be better to build off of and why?  Thanks!!

Neither bushy or stag will offer any advantage with the mods you want to do.  Just pick one and build away.

Consider that parts of different metals often corrode together over time, and become so seized together they can be almost impossible to take apart sometimes; you may want to consider modifying the younger rifle, or at least the rifle that looks to have the least corrosion.

I would hope they are maintained so as that this is not a problem.

That being said, please don't drag it down the airsoft aisle at some gunshow. Buy right, and only cry once. All the time at the range I see people who cannot zero their weapons ect. ect. because of econo parts. My favorite was some guy that "spent 11 years in the Army" trying to achieve an absolute co-witness on an AR pistol using the FSP and a red-dot. His method of sighting in was to point the weapon at the ground and crank on the red-dot until it rested atop the FSP. Then wondering why he wasn't hitting the target. In 10 rounds I had him within an  inch or 2 of dead-center at 25y. He was FEET off. Don't buy oddball stuff and expect it to work (this red-dot and mount, I do not even know the brand. Crap came to mind). Also, I think this guy was just a total tool/idiot as he spent a fair amount of time actually arguing with the range-master when told that "line cold" meant weapons racked/bolts back.
