Hey Everyone,

I am new to AR community and am looking to build my first one. I live in South Carolina, so PSA is just up the road and I have put together a basic kit using one of their rifle kits and lowers. Below is what I am looking at to get and the price of each. What do you guys think? Is this a good starting point? Thanks in advance for the help and I hope to learn some things from everybody. Have a great day!

Rifle Kit ($400) - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/review/product/list/id/17477/category/313/

Stripped Lower ($100) - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lowers/psa-ds-15-kuwait-stripped-lower.html

Rear Site ($50) - http://www.amazon.com/Magpul-MBUS-Rear-Sight-Black/dp/B004RR0N8Q

Magazine ($10 each) -  https://www.magpul.com/products/pmag-30-ar-m4-gen-m2-moe

Ammo ($30.00/90 rounds) - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/review/product/list/id/17834/category/53/

Total: $660.00 (w/ 180 rounds of ammo and 5 magazines)

So, what do you think?

I'd buy this instead

but, there is nothing wrong with the PSA kit you're looking at.

What is your intended use of the rifle?

Palmetto has specials/deals all the time if you are patient.

Thank you very much, I will give it a look. I live less than an hour from PSA so I can get around the shipping, etc. that's is one of the reasons I chose them.

Yeah, I bought my Remington 870 from them and they are super nice people. The intended use is for target practice, personal defense, and/or SHTF situation.

I would look at a nitrided or chrome lined barrel over the stainless.

Freedom line is okay, but I  would spend the extra $100 on one of their premium kits.

@NCFLAR15 Alright, I will give it a look. Does the chrome or nitrided last longer or give better accuracy? I am very new to all of this. Thank you for your help.
