So, with the ban gone, I would like to mate a preban Colt Govt. upper to a new lower. The problem is the Colt Upper is grey and the lower is black. Are there any new grey lowers out there to match the preban Colt upper? DR

| I personally have not seen any. Most of the ones I have used were black for the most part. And a purple Bushy. You may be able to use one of the gun paints to change the color of the lower. Alumahyde and Gunkote are ones I have heard of. No experience with either....sorry. |

AVOID using Alumahyde at all costs! I cleaned my upper and lower with a de greaser, followed the instructions on the can to the letter. A month ago, after a day at the range I sprayed my AR down with Gun Scrub and started cleaning the lower. Fifteen minutes later I started on my upper and the Alumahyde peeled off in sheets. Sadness filled the land. Rgrprib Also, It flakes off at the brass deflector. "We the Willing, Led by the Unknowing, Do what is Necessary, For the Ungrateful." |
