so I purchased a cmmg .22 conversion kit a year or 2 back. Its been fun, but i'm wanting to shoot it a bit more accurately. So I figure I might go ahead a build a dedicated .22upper to work with it. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is when looking at purchasing a .22 barrel they all have chamber adapters which the conversion kit has. Are the chamber adapters removable from the barrel so i can just drop in the conversion kit? or is there a way to remove the chamber adapter from the conversion kit??

The barrel collar that comes with the barrel replaces your chamber adapter.
The collar fits over the barrel chamber on a dedicated .22 Your 5.56 chamber adapter fits inside the 5.56 chamber. To remove and replace the chamber adapter, gently pull one side of the rail, separating it from the chamber adapter. Roll the chamber adapter down. It will pop out. The bolt and spring are also loose at that point. Installation of the collar is just the reverse. Dave N |
