Obviously, a new barrel is required. How about a new bolt and magazine?
With ammo costs in mind, I see 5.45 as a good training option, just trying to find out if it makes sense. |

New barrel, bolt and magazines are required to change over to 5.45.
Magazine choices are slim as C-products offers the only true 5.45 mags at this time, others experiment with 5.56 mags with mixed results.. Go to the Spikes, Aim, and C-products industry sites and you will find a wealth of information. 87GN has actually done some pretty good research that you may find interesting on cost effectiveness comparing 5.45 to 5.56. It really depends on how much you are planning to shoot to make it worthwhile/ cost effective. That said, I love my new Spikes 5.45 upper. There are several choices and ways to go. |
