Having completed my post sunset home defense carbine with all of the features I wanted, I am wanting to build a basic field rifle. It will be stored in the trunk of my car, strapped to the back of a 4 wheeler, humped around in the woods, and tossed in the back of a Jeep. I want to keep it simple, tough, light, and cheap. So far, I have a Colt slick side A1 upper with 20" chrome lined LW barrel, the upper has heat shielded handgaurds, A1 flash suppressor, and an A2 aperture. I also have the A2 pistol grip and buffer/tube/spring assembly from the post ban carbine I rebuilt after the sunset, and an M16 buttstock. Now, I need a lower and a bolt/carrier/charging handle assembly. I am looking at the Ameetec arms lower with installed parts kit and the RRA enhanced b/bc/ch. These seem to be the best quality/price value out there. Any suggestions, tips, or recomendations? |
The barrel is an A1. In fact the entire upper is an almost like new Colt M16 take off. The stock I have is an M16 stock, the same length as an A1, but with fixed buttplate. I thought about a Sully stock. but they seem a little over priced for a fixed stock. You can almost buy a Vltor for what they cost. |
